The Maginot line eliminated mobile warfare, similarly to the Great Wall of China. The Maginot line began being built in 1929 and ended its construction in 1938. It was mostly built of underground structurs/buildings. It had twenty-two large underground fortresses and thirty-six smaller fortresses. The Maginot line was named after Andre Maginot, he served in World War 1 and eventually was wounded. After he was wounded he began making plans for a defensive line. The line extended from La Ferte to the Rhine river.
