What Happened?
On august 6, 1945 the United States bomber plane, Enola Gay, dropped an atomic bomb on top of Hiroshima, Japan. The U.S. did this to get revenge for the attack on Pearl Harbor, which drew U.S.A into the where initially. This event was first of its kind, no one expected the devastation that would come from it. Just this simple act changed the way war was perceived. |
Aftermath
Over 150,000 casualties came from this event. 80,000 we killed from the initial blast alone and 30,000 were injured. Months Later more deaths amounted, around 60,000 citizens died from the fallout of the blast. 13 square kilometers were destroyed, and 63% of the buildings in Hiroshima was destroyed, while 92% of buildings inside the city was completely destroyed or damaged by the blast. |
